Engineers India among 7 stocks hitting 52-week highs; shares rallied up to 25% in a month

Shares of Engineers India Ltd. (EIL) climbed to a new 52-week high of Rs 92, capping a monthly rally of over 25%. The surge in investor confidence is directly linked to the company securing a significant contract from Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL).

Refinery Project Fuels Investor Optimism

The state-owned engineering consultancy received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from CPCL for its Cauvery Basin Refinery Project. The 9 MMTPA project, located in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu, will see EIL provide Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) as well as Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services. This contract win provides a clear catalyst for the stock's recent outperformance, pushing it past its previous 52-week high of Rs 91.90 set on November 11, 2022.

Widespread Gains Across Multiple Sectors

The positive market sentiment was not isolated to EIL. Several other companies also marked new yearly highs, indicating broad-based strength. Apar Industries reached a 52-week high of Rs 2,059 after rallying over 15% in the past month. Infrastructure company NCC and engineering firm BHEL also demonstrated strong momentum, gaining 21% and 13% respectively over the same period to hit highs of Rs 93.95 and Rs 85.50.

Public Sector Banks Join Upward Trend

A notable trend was the strong performance among public sector banks. Bank of Baroda shares rose to a 52-week high of Rs 174.40, marking a nearly 17% gain for the month. It was joined by Punjab National Bank, which hit a high of Rs 57.55 on gains of over 14%, and Canara Bank, which touched Rs 337.85 after advancing 9% in the last month. The concurrent rally across these state-owned lenders points to growing investor interest in the public sector banking space.
