Modernizing the Viewing Experience

Central to FIDE's strategy is enhancing the fan experience. Tournaments are now incorporating interactive "Play Along" features, allowing audiences to predict moves and compete against each other in real-time. To demystify the intense mental battle on the board, broadcasters are displaying players' live heart rates, providing a tangible metric of the stress and physical exertion involved. Furthermore, a recent rule change permits players, including top grandmasters like Arjun Erigaisi, to wear headphones and listen to music during matches, a move that helps players focus while adding a modern visual for viewers.
