India’s archery campaign at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya produced a familiar headline number and a mixed competitive picture. The country collected nine medals, matching its haul from the 2022 Games.
Compound teams deliver another sweep
India again completed a clean sweep of the compound team events. The result maintained the country’s strong showing in that part of the archery programme and ensured the team events remained a central success of the campaign.
Individual titles prove harder to retain
The medal total, however, did not tell the whole story. India was unable to defend the two other gold medals available in the individual categories. That left the campaign with a contrast: the same overall medal count as in 2022, but without retaining those two individual titles.
India’s performance therefore combined consistency with a clear area of missed opportunity. The nine-medal haul matched the previous record, while the compound team sweep stood out as the campaign’s biggest achievement. The loss of the individual golds was the main setback identified in the archery results.
What the result shows
For India, the Aichi-Nagoya campaign confirmed its ability to reproduce the 2022 medal tally in archery. At the same time, the outcome showed that matching the number of medals did not mean repeating every success from the earlier Games.
