Sungarner Energies Nears Stock Split Deadline After 107% Rally Sungarner Energies Ltd., a manufacturer in the renewable energy space, is approaching its scheduled stock...
Sungarner Energies Ltd., a manufacturer in the renewable energy space, is approaching its scheduled stock split after a period of remarkable performance on the market. The company has set May 24, 2024, as the record date for a 1-for-10 stock subdivision, meaning today is the final day for investors to purchase shares to be eligible for the split.
The corporate action follows a substantial increase in the company's valuation. Sungarner's stock has surged 107% in the last four months and delivered a multibagger return of over 200% in the past six months. Since its listing on the NSE Emerge platform in August 2023 at an issue price of Rs 83 per share, the stock has provided investors with returns exceeding 250% over the last year, recently hitting an all-time high of Rs 259.95.
The primary objective of the stock split is to enhance the liquidity of the company's shares in the capital market. By subdividing each equity share with a face value of Rs 10 into ten shares with a face value of Re 1, Sungarner aims to make its stock more affordable and accessible to a wider pool of retail investors. This strategy is often employed by companies after significant price appreciation to encourage broader ownership and improve trading volumes.
The company's performance has attracted notable market participants, including investor Mukul Agrawal, who holds a 5.61% stake, equivalent to 326,400 equity shares. Sungarner Energies operates in high-growth sectors, focusing on the design and production of solar inverters, online UPS systems, EV chargers, and solar panels. For the fiscal year 2023, the company reported a net profit of Rs 1.63 crore on revenue of Rs 19.38 crore.
While a stock split does not alter a company's underlying fundamentals, the increased liquidity and lower share price can attract sustained investor interest. The success of this move will depend on Sungarner's ability to continue its growth trajectory in the competitive solar and EV infrastructure markets. The subdivision positions the company for a potentially larger and more diverse shareholder base as it continues its operations.
