A five-member team from the Chennai City Central Crime Branch executed the operation, targeting multiple locations in Chennai and Tiruchi.
The police action is linked to an inquiry into an alleged multi-crore fraud scheme. According to police sources, the investigation centers on activities involving private schools that occurred during the tenure of the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, in which Poyyamozhi served as a key minister.
The primary search was conducted at the former minister's residence in Tiruchi. In addition to this location, the Central Crime Branch carried out simultaneous searches at six other sites in both Chennai and Tiruchi that are reportedly linked to Poyyamozhi. The coordinated effort suggests a broad scope for the ongoing investigation into the alleged financial irregularities within the state's education sector.
